Following all precautionary steps, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), one of India’s major cargo handling ports, celebrated the “Swachhta Pakhwada” with remarkable vigour. Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPT, inaugurated the Pakhwada by administering the “Swachhta Pledge” for a greener and sustainable future in the presence of Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Dy. Chairman, JNPT, and HoDs.

The main goal of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is to raise awareness among JNPT staff and stakeholders about the importance of keeping the port area clean and green, in order to achieve the country’s overall cleanliness goal. Sanitation and cleanliness drives were conducted at various locations throughout the port, including JNPT Township, the hospital, the guest house, the bulk office area, the administration building, the main jetty area, the Landing Jetty, the ICD office, the BPCL office, the liquid cargo jetty, and the roadsides and in the surrounding area.

The importance of cleanliness in and around the port area, as well as the surrounding areas, was highlighted by Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPT. He praised the personnel who have worked tirelessly to achieve the aims of a “clean and green port,” praising sanitation workers in particular for their contributions to maintaining cleanliness in and around the port area.





JNPT put banners and notice boards at prearranged areas to help people to become aware of the Swachh Bharat mission. Various events, like as essay writing and slogan competitions, were also held at the port for JNPT employees. All of these competitions were attended by port officials and staff. The Swachhta Abhiyan launched by JNPT came to an end on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2nd, 2021. JNPT has been cleaning all of its facilities on a regular basis, and the port will continue to be a socially conscious company by working to create a clean and sustainable port.
