Michelin has launched the X Guard radial truck tyre. It is said to be exclusively designed and engineered for India. At Rs. 18,500 (including tube, flap and taxes), the tyre will be available through authorised Michelin dealer network in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Bengal. With the new tyre, Michelin forays in the mass market segment of commercial vehicle tyres in India. The product is targeted at the price-sensitive general goods carriers and medium and long haul transporters. Mohan Kumar, Commercial Director, Michelin India is known to have said that the Indian market is rapidly evolving and to win in this exciting market place, it was important for the company to adapt to the customer’s changing needs. Michelin’s plans include deploying limited quantities of the new product in eight states over the coming year. Pan-India expansion will follow. To create X Guard, Michelin is known to have leveraged two patented technologies (Infinicoil Technology and Regenion Technology) for the first time in India.
