Punj Lloyd has won an order of Rs.120 crores to supply full body truck scanners from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Punj Lloyd is the first private firm engaged to install X-Ray based scanners at the Indian borders. The X-Ray based scanners are manufactured at the company’s Malanpur facility, and equipped to locate hidden arms, explosives, ammunition, IEDs and detonators. Also capable of locating fake currency and narcotics, the scanners are expected to play a significant role in national security according to Atul Punj, Chairman, Punj Lloyd. The scanners would be installed at five locations (Attari in Amritsar, Uri-Salamabad along Indo-Pak border, Poonch-Chakkandabagh, Petrapole at Indo-Bangladesh border, and Raxaul at Indo-Nepal Border) claim industry sources.
