Kion India’s forklift truck brand, Voltas, will be termed as Voltas OM hereafter. Italy-based Kion Group acquired Voltas material handling business from Voltas Limited in 2011. OM, or Officine Meccaniche, is an Italian brand of the Italy-based Kion Group. The move to rebrand Voltas products as Voltas OM is expected to strengthen the company’s market position by leveraging Kion’s global technological prowess according to CEO Sunil K Gupta. Apart from OM Voltas products, Kion India will also market products based on Kion technology under the OM brand name. Kion in India is already selling industrial trucks, warehouse technology and services under the Baoli and Linde brands apart from the OM and Voltas OM brand names. Kion in India has a production facility at Pune, and operates with the help of 40 branches and dealerships, and with 80 sales outlets across the country. In Italy, Kion Group sells products under the Kion Still and OM Still brand. OM Still is claimed to be a market leader in Italy. OM was founded in Brescia in northern Italy in 1917.
