
Expanding its electric commercial vehicle portfolio, EKA Mobility has unveiled its 9-metre electric school bus at Prawaas 5.0, the bus and passenger mobility exhibition being held in Gandhinagar. The new model has been developed for school transportation and adds to the company’s range of electric buses for institutional and public mobility applications.
Built on the company’s lightweight monocoque platform, the bus features a high-strength steel structure and complies with AIS 052 safety standards. It offers seating for up to 43 passengers along with the driver. Safety features include an Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and air suspension.
The electric school bus is available with 100 kWh and 200 kWh LFP battery packs. According to the company, it offers a driving range of up to 180 km on a single charge and supports CCS2 fast charging, enabling a full recharge in less than one hour and 45 minutes.
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, said the new electric school bus has been designed to address the growing requirement for electric mobility solutions in the education sector while strengthening the company’s commercial EV portfolio.
Alongside the school bus, EKA Mobility is displaying the EKA Coach, the 12-metre Low Entry Electric Bus, and its 3S and 6S electric vehicles at Prawaas 5.0, reflecting its focus on electric mobility solutions for city transport, institutional operations and last-mile passenger movement.
EKA Mobility is a participant in the Government of India’s Auto PLI Scheme and manufactures electric commercial vehicles for the Indian market. The company’s products are on display at Hall 1, Stall 103, Helipad Exhibition Centre (HEC), Gandhinagar, from July 9 to 11, 2026.
