A leading manufacturer of electric two and three wheelers in Japan, Terra Motors has launched Y4Alfa e-rickshaw at a price of Rs.1.3 lakh. Powered by a Terra battery unit, which gives a range of 100 km on full charge, the e-rickshaw, weighing 380 kg, can accommodate five people including the driver. The battery, priced close to Rs.27,000, is made in India, and comes with a one year warranty. It has a life span of at least eighteen months. Said Teppei Seki, Country Director, Terra Motors, that they plan to sell 30000 units of e-rickshaws and 20000 sets of Terra Batteries by the end of this fiscal. Stressing on the commitment to bring high quality Japanese offering and services to the Indian market, the company aims at enhancing its sales and service support through seasoned dealers. The e-rickshaw is claimed to be water-resistant, and the steering wheel is claimed to make manoeuvring easy.
