As electrification gathers pace in mining and construction haulage, Propel Industries strengthened its electric heavy-duty portfolio at EXCON 2025, writes Upendra Kasbekar.

At EXCON 2025 in Bengaluru, Propel Industries underlined its intent to scale electric mobility into applications traditionally dominated by diesel. The company used the platform to launch multiple electric tipper models along with a connected technology and service ecosystem, signalling a shift from pilot deployments to full-scale operational readiness.

Rather than presenting electrification as a future concept, Propel positioned its electric tippers as production-ready solutions for mining, construction and infrastructure operations that demand high uptime, safety and predictable operating economics.

A SCALABLE EV TIPPER LINE-UP

Unveiled at EXCON 2025, the new range comprises the 90CED, 70CED, 560HEV-X and 470MEV Gen-2, covering a wide spectrum of haulage requirements. At the top end, the 90CED is positioned as a 90-tonne electric dumper offering a 34 cubic metre struck volume, with battery options ranging from 310 kWh to 650 kWh. Designed for high-intensity mining operations, it integrates ADAS Level 1 safety features, an electronic braking system, driver fatigue monitoring and compliance with DGMS safety norms.

The 70CED, configured as an 8×4 electric mining tipper, features a 25 cubic metre rock body suited for mid-to-heavy mining duties. For construction applications, Propel introduced the 560HEV-X, an 8×4 electric tipper with a 25 cubic metre box body, while the 470MEV Gen-2, a 6×4 configuration, offers a 20 cubic metre rock body and three battery pack options to balance payload and range.

BATTERY, SAFETY AND WARRANTY FOCUS

Across all models launched at EXCON 2025, Propel has standardised a five-year or 5,000-cycle battery warranty, reinforcing confidence in long-term deployment. The lithium-ion battery systems feature an in-built firewall with automatic fire detection and suppression, addressing safety concerns in continuous-duty, multi-shift operations.

DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY AND SERVICE SUPPORT

The product launches were complemented by Pulse.ev, Propel’s connectivity platform introduced at the exhibition. The system provides real-time vehicle health monitoring, energy consumption insights and predictive maintenance analytics, enabling fleet operators to manage uptime across demanding operating cycles.

In parallel, Pro EV Care, a structured five-tier service programme, was also introduced at EXCON 2025, offering uptime assurance, predictable operating costs and on-site service support for electric fleets.

Validating the platform’s readiness, V. Senthilkumar, Managing Director, Propel Industries, stated that the newly launched platforms respond to the real needs of heavy-duty mining and construction environments. Siddarth Kirtane, President-EV Sales, Marketing and Service, noted that Propel’s electric trucks have already accumulated over five lakh operating hours since entering the EV truck segment in 2023.

By leveraging EXCON 2025 as a launchpad, Propel Industries positioned its electric tippers not as experimental alternatives, but as scalable, deployment-ready solutions for India’s most demanding haulage environments.
