NITI Aayog has signed an agreement with Geneva-based International Road Federation for cooperation towards building an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and to design a policy framework for the same. The National ITS policy is expected to serve various domains like traffic management, parking management, electronic enforcement of traffic rules and regulations. According to K.K. Kapila, Chairman of the International Road Federation, the objective of the national ITS Policy will be to contribute in reduction of urban traffic, apart from improving parking, road safety, and security of passenger and goods traffic. It would additionally cover fleet management and monitoring, and innovation and education in the field of ITS.
