At Auto Components Show 2025, ARB Bearings showcased new EV and HCV solutions in step with evolving trends, writes Richa Tyagi.
ARB Bearings Pvt. Ltd., a long-standing player in India’s bearing manufacturing industry, showcased its latest developments at the Auto Components Show 2025. The company focused on Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCVs), reflecting broader changes in the automotive sector toward electrification and sustainability. It is building on the foundation laid over the past three and a half decades. “ARB Bearings was established in 1990, and today we manufacture a comprehensive range of fully indigenous bearings, from ball bearings to taper roller and clutch release bearings, serving sectors like two-wheelers, trucks, passenger vehicles, and industries including steel, paper, and sugar,” mentioned Vinod Goel, Director, ARB Bearings Ltd.

Focus On Electrification
ARB Bearings showcased bearing solutions engineered for EVs. As electric drivetrains continue to replace internal combustion systems, bearing manufacturers are under pressure to develop lighter, quieter, and more durable components. ARB designed its EV-specific bearings to handle high-speed operations with minimal friction and noise, supporting smoother and more energy-efficient vehicle performance. This development aligns with the broader industry trend; electric passenger car sales in India grew by over 100 per cent year-over-year in 2023, while several OEMs have begun electrifying their commercial and fleet vehicles. Component suppliers like ARB are recalibrating their product lines to support this transition, as per Goel.
Expanding Product Range ARB Bearings also displayed a wide range of products beyond EV applications, including taper roller bearings, ball bearings, and Double-Row Angular Contact Ball Bearings (DRACBB). To support rising domestic and export demand, ARB has been increasing production capacity. In 2023, the company added a high-capacity heat treatment plant, two production lines for small- and medium-diameter ball bearings, and one for DRACBBs. ARB Bearings manufactures components for both automotive and industrial sectors. Its products support machinery that operates under high load and rotational stress, including steel mills, power equipment, farm machinery, and heavy-duty vehicles. By offering both standard and custom solutions, ARB tailors its bearings to meet industry-specific needs. As India positions itself as a global manufacturing hub, supported by initiatives like Make in India and Production Linked Incentives (PLIs), component manufacturers are scaling up to compete in export markets. “With four advanced plants in Kundli, a strong export presence in 40 countries, and a domestic distribution network of 500 channel partners across 10 CN depots, we continue to grow as a trusted name in the bearing industry,” Goel said.

Lubrication
Alongside mechanical innovations, ARB Bearings showcased a new range of high-performance greases designed for automotive and industrial applications. The company spotlighted its lubricants ARB CoolTech Lubricant for the EV segment and ARB UTTO Plus, and Dyzel 5000 for the HCV segment. Lubrication continues to be a critical factor in enhancing bearing life and reducing operating costs. These greases are formulated to withstand extreme temperature variations and high-load environments, especially relevant in sectors like mining, construction, and heavy transport. The lubrication market itself is expected to grow steadily as OEMs and end-users seek solutions that minimise wear and maintenance downtime.

Building Infrastructure Through Decades
Since beginning operations in 1990, ARB Bearings has steadily expanded both its infrastructure and product portfolio. Initially focused on taper roller bearings, the company gradually diversified to include cylindrical, spherical, and ball bearings. It entered international markets in 1996, starting with the Middle East, and expanded exports to the United States and Sri Lanka by 1998. Over the years, ARB continued to broaden its offerings, introducing multi-purpose greases in 2009, launching universal joint crosses in 2010, and adding clutch plates under a new brand in 2014.
Adapting To Industry Trends
As the automotive industry demands lower maintenance and higher efficiency, suppliers like ARB are adjusting their design and production strategies accordingly. The industry’s push toward electrification and smart systems is prompting manufacturers to rethink how they approach materials, lubrication, and bearing design. Companies that align their R&D and manufacturing with these needs are better equipped to meet evolving market expectations in India and abroad, Goel concluded.
