This metro line will pass through the CM’s son MP Shrikant Shinde’s Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency. The project is set to be completed by December 2027.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar will lay the foundation stone of Mumbai Metro Line-12 (Kalyan-Taloja) at Dombivli’s Premier Ground on Sunday.

The decision to extend Metro Line-5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) up to Taloja (Navi Mumbai) was made based on the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS)-2008.

As the extended route passes through areas developed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), these regions will witness enhanced development prospects in the future. Additionally, this extension will reduce travel time between Kalyan-Dombivli and Navi Mumbai. Notably, Metro Line-12 is scheduled to pass through the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency, represented by CM Shinde’s son, Shrikant Shinde.
