Ashok Leyland has expanded its Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) network in Odisha with the inauguration of a new dealership in Rourkela, strengthening its presence in the eastern market.
The new dealership, operated by SteelEx India, is Ashok Leyland’s seventh LCV outlet in Odisha and forms part of the company’s wider network of over 945 customer touchpoints across India.
Located at Brahmani Tarang, Vedvyas, Rourkela, the facility operates as a 3S setup covering sales, service, and spares. It includes 12 quick-service bays aimed at supporting faster turnaround and aftersales support for fleet operators and small business owners in the region.
Commenting on the expansion, Viplav Shah, Head – LCV Business, Ashok Leyland Ltd., said Odisha continues to remain an important market for the company, with customer demand driven by reliability, mileage, and operating efficiency.
The company’s LCV portfolio currently includes BADAq DOST, DOST, SAATHI, PARTNER, and MiTR, covering applications ranging from small cargo movement and intra-city logistics to school and staff transportation.
Ashok Leyland recently expanded its presence in the sub-2-ton segment with the launch of the SAATHI small commercial vehicle. Positioned as an entry-level SCV, the product features a 45 hp engine producing 110 Nm torque and is targeted at urban and semi-urban cargo operations.
Within the portfolio, BADA DOST remains one of the company’s key products in the segment, offered across multiple variants and focused on payload capacity, load space, and intra-city usability. The DOST range continues to cater to smaller cargo applications, while PARTNER addresses the 4-ton payload segment through both 4-tyre and 6-tyre configurations.
The MiTR bus platform is available in school and staff bus formats and targets urban mobility and institutional transport requirements.
From a commercial vehicle perspective, the network expansion reflects continued focus among OEMs on strengthening regional aftersales presence and improving service accessibility, particularly in growing logistics and intra-city transport markets.
