Ashok Leyland and the Centre of Excellence for Zero Emission Trucking (CoEZET) at IIT Madras have launched GET ZET – Electric Truck Awareness to Acceptance, a 40-city drive running from September 2026 to February 2027. The programme began in Chennai and will cover key logistics hubs and industrial corridors across 15 states and Delhi.
The drive will bring together fleet owners, logistics operators, financiers, load providers, infrastructure partners, policymakers and industry experts. The sessions will focus on the opportunities and challenges involved in deploying zero-emission commercial transportation and the ecosystem required to support it.
As part of the programme, Ashok Leyland’s BOSS Electric truck and charger setup will be showcased. Participants will get hands-on exposure to electric commercial vehicles and take part in trial rides.
The programme will cover Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, taking the demonstrations to major logistics and industrial locations across the country.
Focus on Electric Truck Adoption
Shenu Agarwal, MD and CEO, Ashok Leyland, said the 40-city drive will give customers and other stakeholders an opportunity to experience electric truck technology first-hand. He also highlighted the importance of user confidence in the wider adoption of electric trucks.
Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean (ICSR), IIT Madras, said CoEZET has been working on zero-emission truck adoption since 2022 across policy, technology, skilling and outreach. He said the current programme builds on earlier awareness activities and uses hands-on trial rides to help address concerns among drivers and the wider trucking community.

The GET ZET drive will continue through February 2027, with demonstrations and stakeholder interactions taking place across the 40-city network.
