Eicher Trucks and Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has partnered with Rosmerta Auto Recycling Pvt. Ltd. (RARPL) to facilitate the authorised scrapping and recycling of end-of-life commercial vehicles across the National Capital Region (NCR).
The partnership will provide Eicher Trucks and Buses dealers and customers with an organised, transparent and compliant vehicle scrapping process, supporting the retirement of ageing trucks and buses through authorised channels.
The collaboration comes as India’s formal vehicle scrappage ecosystem expands, with more than 4.3 lakh vehicles already scrapped through Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs).
Supporting the Commercial Vehicle Scrapping Process
Under the partnership, Rosmerta Auto Recycling will support Eicher dealers and customers through key stages of the vehicle scrapping journey. These include registration and documentation under the PARIVARTAN scheme, Digital Certificate of Deposit (CoD) generation through the authorised RVSF ecosystem, scientific dismantling and depollution of end-of-life commercial vehicles, and regulatory documentation in line with applicable MoRTH and environmental guidelines.
The process will also include the generation and transfer of EPR credits from compliant ELV recycling, where applicable, along with the recovery and processing of metals and other valuable automotive materials for reuse and recycling.
The companies said routing end-of-life commercial vehicles through authorised RVSFs can help shift vehicle disposal away from fragmented and informal channels towards a documented and traceable process.
Supporting Fleet Renewal and Resource Recovery
The partnership is intended to support fleet renewal and responsible vehicle retirement while enabling the recovery of materials such as steel, aluminium and other automotive materials from end-of-life vehicles.
The initiative also aligns with India’s Vehicle Scrappage Policy and the evolving Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for end-of-life vehicles.
S.S. Gill, Chief Commercial Officer, VE Commercial Vehicles, said the partnership will give Eicher truck and bus customers access to a structured scrapping ecosystem as they consider vehicle productivity, operating efficiency, safety and lifecycle costs.
Kartick V. Ngpal, President, Rosmerta Group, said the focus is on translating the policy framework for vehicle scrappage into greater adoption on the ground by making authorised vehicle retirement simpler for commercial vehicle owners while ensuring scientific dismantling and recovery of valuable materials.
PARIVARTAN Scheme
For transport vehicles purchased against a Certificate of Deposit under the PARIVARTAN scheme for the NCT region, the release states that eligible vehicles can receive a 100% waiver of road/MV tax for 10 years and loan interest subvention of up to 5% of the interest payable on the replacement vehicle.
The partnership brings together Eicher Trucks and Buses, its dealers and customers, and an authorised vehicle recycling facility to strengthen the formal ELV recycling ecosystem in the NCR.
