ZF Group showcased its latest technologies for the bus industry at Prawaas 5.0, highlighting solutions designed to improve safety, fleet efficiency and electrification as public transport operators increasingly adopt connected and sustainable mobility solutions.
The company’s display featured a comprehensive range of Original Equipment (OE) and Aftermarket technologies, reinforcing its commitment to supporting OEMs and fleet operators with solutions that enhance vehicle performance, passenger safety and operational reliability.
Among the key highlights was AxTrax 2, ZF’s integrated electric axle developed for light- and medium-duty buses. By integrating the electric motor, inverter, transmission, electronic control unit and actuator into a single compact unit, the system enables manufacturers to develop efficient battery-electric, fuel-cell and trolley buses while reducing drivetrain complexity.
ZF also showcased the RL82A low-floor front axle, engineered to improve manoeuvrability and passenger accessibility in city bus operations. The axle offers steering angles of up to 55 degrees, along with internally ventilated disc brakes and a low-maintenance design suited to demanding urban operating conditions.
To enhance vehicle safety and operational performance, the company displayed a range of technologies including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and intelligent Door Control Solutions. ZF also highlighted connected technologies such as Bus Connect and eComp Lite, enabling fleet operators to monitor vehicle performance and improve uptime.
Speaking at the event, Akash Passey, President, ZF Group India, said India’s public transport ecosystem is evolving rapidly, driven by urbanisation, sustainability goals and increasing emphasis on road safety and operational efficiency. He added that ZF continues to combine globally proven technologies with local engineering expertise to support customers across their mobility journey.
Paramjit Singh Chadha, Senior Vice President, ZF CVS India, said the future of bus mobility will be shaped by intelligent technologies that seamlessly integrate electrification, connectivity, active safety and vehicle control. He noted that ZF’s technology portfolio is designed to help OEMs and fleet operators improve vehicle performance, passenger safety, operational uptime and total cost of ownership.
ZF Aftermarket also showcased its OE-quality replacement solutions, including 360-degree camera systems, brake rotors, brake pads, brake linings, Golden Cartridges, power steering pumps, coolant and grease, supporting higher vehicle reliability and lifecycle performance for commercial fleets.
In addition to its product showcase, ZF Group participated in industry discussions at Prawaas 5.0, with Paramjit Singh Chadha joining a panel on “Electrifying School Bus Transport for a Cleaner Future,” reflecting the company’s continued engagement in shaping the future of India’s public transport ecosystem.
