Eicher Trucks and Buses has inaugurated the first Eicher Academy for drivers at Indore. Aimed at creating skilled drivers, the academy, as part of the Eicher Group Foundation, a CSR arm of Eicher Group, will impart high quality pre licensing training for drivers of commercial vehicles. Inaugurated by Deepak Joshi, Minister of Technical Education — Skill Development, Employment, Labour & School Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in the presence of G Sekar, Director, Eicher Group Foundation and J P Verma, Vice President – Aftermarket, VE Commercial Vehicles, the academy will train heavy and light commercial vehicle drivers by providing hands on learning and training on vehicles. The academy will also train new and existing drivers in safe practices. With the support

for content and technical assistance from VECV, the academy is equipped with modern infrastructure (including multimedia enabled classrooms), a test track for driving practice, advanced simulators to develop road behaviour and technical labs for mechanical education. Engaging DB Skills for effective programme implementation and monitoring, the academy will have sessions on vehicle maintenance, heath and safe practices as well as soft skills.
