With the road freight (transport) fraternity receiving no response for its demands to extend the renewal of third-party insurance and toll tax holiday, the likelihood of uninsured trucks on the road is expected to rise. With transporters finding it tough to sustain in the absence of any financial relief coming its way, the challenge of uninsured trucks hitting the road as the country emerges from the lockdown is expected to be significant. Add to it the seemingly unending saga of migrant workers opting to travel by trucks to their home-villages, and the issue has the risk of turning ugly, mentioned a source.
