The Mumbai coastal road offers seamless connectivity, reducing travel time from 45-50 minutes to less than 10 minutes between Marine Drive and Bandra-Worli Sea Link

The Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP), officially named the Dharmveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road, saw the inauguration of its first phase by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. The project, with a total cost of Rs 13,983 crore, is divided into three phases, spanning from Marine Drive to Dahisar along Mumbai’s western shoreline.

Phase One, covering Marine Drive to Worli, is nearly 86% complete, while Phase Two, spanning from Worli to Versova and Worli to Bandra, partially exists in the form of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, with additional work underway for the Bandra to Versova Connect. Phase Three, from Versova to Dahisar, has finalized contractors, with work set to commence soon.

The BMC has implemented certain regulations regarding timings and travel along the coastal roads. Entry from Bindu Madhav Thackeray Jn, Worli, is permitted on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while entry from Lotus Jn, Breach Candy, is allowed from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Phase 1 remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays due to ongoing work on the northbound carriageway, necessitating access for trucks through the southbound carriageway.
