The Maharashtra government announced a reduction in VAT on diesel and petrol for the Mumbai and Navi Mumbai regions. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, while presenting the state Budget for 2024-25, detailed the changes.
VAT Reductions:
– Diesel: VAT reduced from 24% to 21%
– Petrol: VAT reduced from 26% to 25%
This change will lower diesel prices by ₹2 per litre and petrol prices by 65 paise per litre in the Mumbai region. Currently, petrol costs ₹104.21 per litre and diesel costs ₹92.15 per litre. The new prices will be ₹103.56 for petrol and ₹90.15 for diesel once the reductions are effective.
Additionally, Ajit Pawar announced a financial assistance scheme providing a monthly allowance of ₹1,500 to eligible women aged 21 to 60 years.
