The odd-even formula is likely to make a comeback in New Delhi in March. Going by the reception received by the odd-even formula during its trial run between January 01 and January 15, 2016, the implementation of the odd-even formula in March may be necessitated by the high pollution levels the National Capital Region has been struggling with. If implemented in March, the Delhi Government hopes to address two major concerns from the feedback received during the trial run, that of school children commuting for exams, and the people of Delhi trying to circumvent the formula by acquiring two cars with odd and even number each. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is known to have chaired a meeting asking the concerned departments to look into the two issues and come out with a way to tackle the challenge. While industry sources claimed that the formula will be implemented after the completion of CBSE board exams, two-wheelers will continue to be exempted until the public transport system is improved. The Delhi Government is said to be working towards increasing the fleet strength of its transport undertaking. It is also said to be talking to private bus operators to arrive at a formidable transport model that is safe, sustainable and efficient.
