Diesel fuel price has reduced in the recent times whereas the petrol price has risen. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), in an effort to bring down pollution levels, is said to be looking at alternate fuels. Bio-diesel to be precise. Bio-diesel is the next best alternative, transport minister A K Saseendran is known to have said. Inaugurating a maiden bio-diesel bunk launched by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) at Thottilppalam sub-depot, Saseendran is claimed to have expressed that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a ban on registration of diesel vehicles older than 15 years in the country. Though it has granted relaxation on the stipulation, everybody has to adhere to the norms aimed at protecting nature. In order to promote bio-diesel, more pumps are expected to be setup in Kozhikode, Thalassery and Payyannur depots in Kannur district to begin with.
