Ashok Leyland has launched a tractor on the Captain platform. Called the Captain 40iT, the tractor is powered by a 180 hp, 5.6-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 600 Nm of torque. Not the first tractor to come out of the Ashok Leyland stables, the Captain 40iT is the most modern according to the company sources. Launched at Jaipur to leverage growth as Rajasthan is the country’s biggest tractor market, the Captain 40iT, claim company sources, will play in the 40 to 49-tonne range. Reflecting comfort, reliability, efficiency and versatility, the Captain 40iT tractor is claimed to be fuel efficient. Said to incorporate an intelligent engine management system to optimise fuel delivery, the design of the cab is claimed to also contribute towards better fuel efficeincy with an ability to cheat the wind. In terms of comfort and versatility, the cabin is laced with features like spacious interior, a roof hatch and a leg vent, lockers with external access, mobile charger, music player with USB port among others. Captain 40iT is manufactured at Pantnagar, Uttarakhand.
