Olectra Greentech Limited has become the first electric mobility company in India to deploy 4,000 electric buses on Indian roads, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition towards sustainable public transport.

The company commemorated the achievement by handing over its 4,000th electric bus to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri during the flag-off ceremony of 297 Olectra electric buses inducted into the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) fleet. The event was attended by senior officials from the Government of Himachal Pradesh, HRTC and Olectra Greentech.

With operations spanning multiple states and cities, Olectra’s fleet of 4,000 electric buses has collectively covered over 730 million green kilometres, preventing more than 6.5 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The company said the milestone reflects the growing adoption of electric mobility in public transport while contributing to lower operating costs, cleaner air and improved passenger mobility.

Commenting on the achievement, Mahesh Babu, Managing Director, Olectra Greentech Ltd., said, “Becoming the first company in India to deploy 4,000 electric buses is a landmark not only for Olectra but also for the country’s electric mobility sector.
