
In anticipation of the heavy festive rush,the Karnataka state Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC)has announced the deployment of 90 additional buses between Bengaluru and Kerala from September 2 to 4,ensuring smoother travel for passengers heading home for onam ,kerela’s biggest cultural celebration.
The move comes as thousands of Malayali families based in Bengaluru prepare to travel back to their hometowns to celebrate the festival, which falls on September 5 this year.know for its cultural significance and elaborate tradition, onam often sees a surge in demand for interstate travel, creating a seasonal challenge for transport operators.

According to officials,the special buses will supplement KSRTC regular services and primary operate from key departure points in the city such as the MysuruRoad Bus station and shantinagar Bus station. The routes will connect Bengaluru with major kerela cities including kannur, kozhikode ,Ernakulam, palakkad ,Thrissur,kottayam,and Thirvananthapuram.
In addition to the pre-onam services, KSRTC has also scheduled return trips on September 7 to bring travellers back to Bengaluru once the celebration conclude .These return services are expected to case the travel burden for professionals and students who need to resume work and academic commitments after the festival.
The corporations proactive step underscores the vital role it plays in inter- state mobility during peak festive seasons. With Bengaluru home to a large Malayali community, the Bengaluru-kerela route is among the busiest during onam every year.By adding temporary capacity, KSRTC aims to not only reduce overcrowding but also provide a more reliable and comfortable travel experience.
