Scheduled from 11-12 July 2024 at NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi, the upcoming 8th edition of NGV India Summit organised by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India will focus on the theme of ‘Navigating India’s Clean Mobility Transition’ by discussing the environmental impact caused by conventional vehicles vis-a-vis India’s steadfast approach in steadily adopting the natural gas vehicles.
Moving progressively towards its net-zero target by 2070, multiple challenges disguised as opportunities stand in front of India to achieve zero CO2 emissions. Collaborative steps taken by the NITI Aayog, nodal Government ministries along with the private industry players leading India’s energy and mobility (automotive) sector, have started shaping up as big strides towards diversifying the energy basket and reducing dependence on petroleum imports.
One of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions is the mobility and transportation sector, largely dependent on petroleum. Among the alternative fuels, the compressed natural gas (CNG) market has so far witnessed maximum growth. The global demand for CNG vehicles is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 10.9% between 2023 and 2033. As the Indian government is pushing to grow the contribution of natural gas to the economy from its current share of roughly around 6% to 15% by 2030, India is also eyeing investments of USD 4.95 million from the gas companies to develop a robust supply chain facilitating the availability of this clean fuel across the Indian geography, especially in north-eastern states and northern federal territories by constructing a natural gas pipeline infrastructure.
With this, the upcoming NGV India Summit is ready to bring on the dais the industry experts from the concerned Ministries, government bodies and private companies to discuss what’s likely next to be expected in the sector.
