Michelin has launched Truck&Bus Radial (TBR) tyre called the X Guard. Exclusively designed, engineered and made for India, the TBR is aimed at price-sensitive general goods carriers and medium and long haul transporters. Engineered to last long, save fuel, the TBR is lighter and more robust. Priced at Rs. 18,500 (including tube, flap and taxes), the X-Guard, facilitating Michelin’s entry into the mass market, is claimed to be 18 per cent lighter, courtesy the latest material solutions and 3D printing technologies. Two Michelin patented technologies that have been leveraged for the first time in India to create X Guard. One is Infinicoil technology, which is used in high-end Michelin truck tyres, and has been adapted in the Indian context to fortify the tyre from inside, helping it to be robust yet light. The other is Regenion technology, which enables the tyre to self-regenerate its tread. New grooves appear as it wears out. This helps to deliver enhanced grip over the life of the tyre and boost tyre mileage.
