The public transportation service operated by the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC), which had been inactive for the past decade, resumed on Sunday following the acquisition of 20 new electric buses under the National Programme for Clean Air (NCAP) initiated by the central government. The electric bus services commenced on Sunday in the city and were inaugurated by PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan and Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde. UMC had previously operated public buses in the city until 2014, but due to technical issues, bus operations were discontinued. Since then, residents have relied on private transport buses for intra-city travel. In other news, Sindhu Bhawan, constructed by the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation for the Sindhi community, was inaugurated in Ulhasnagar on Sunday. This two-storey Sindhu Bhawan features two air-conditioned halls and a theatre.
