In a rare show of unity, 57 transport unions in Delhi came together to form the ‘United Front of Transport Associations’ (UFTA) under the road transport’s apex body ‘All India Motor Transport Congress’ (AIMTC). The newly formed association aims to undertake problems faced by all commercial vehicle operators. The 57 transport unions that have joined hands include those that operate trucks, mini trucks, tempos and taxis in the NCR region of Delhi. In its statement, UFTA claimed to be looking at a host of issues including those that pertain to green tax levy, ban on 10 year old diesel vehicles, ban on registration of vehicle, having 2000cc engines or above, entry time limitations and issues that dodge aggregator taxi operators.
