TIVOLT Electric Vehicles and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) have joined hands to drive India’s electric mobility forward.

In a significant move towards strengthening India’s EV ecosystem, TIVOLT Electric Vehicles, a subsidiary of TI Clean Mobility and part of the Murugappa Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL). The partnership aims to accelerate the rollout of EV charging infrastructure for small electric commercial vehicles across the country, making clean and sustainable mobility a reality for transporters and last-mile delivery operators.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Saju Nair, CEO, TIVOLT Electric Vehicles, and Mr. Virendra Goyal, Head BD EV Charging, Tata Power, in the presence of Mr. Shivram Bikkina, Chief – Solar Rooftop & EV Charging Business, Tata Power. The partnership brings together TIVOLT’s rapidly expanding network of small electric commercial vehicles and Tata Power’s expertise in building and managing a wide network of EV charging stations.

Under the agreement, Tata Power will install EV chargers at TIVOLT dealerships, customer locations, and high-traffic public areas. This move aims to provide EV users with better access to charging infrastructure, making EV adoption easier for commercial vehicle operators. The plan also includes strategically deploying EV charging points in key areas, offering commercial EV operators the convenience of quick and reliable charging options.

Speaking on the partnership, Mr. Saju Nair, CEO, TIVOLT Electric Vehicles, said,

“We are excited to partner with Tata Power. This will be a key enabler in the Electric Adoption journey and the strategic partnership will accelerate the development of EV charging infrastructure. This MoU is a significant step towards empowering the EV ecosystem for e-trucks with robust, accessible charging solutions, ensuring that clean and sustainable mobility becomes a reality for our customers.”

TPREL is already a major player in India’s EV charging landscape, operating over 1,00,000 home chargers, 6,500+ public and fleet charging points, and 1,100+ bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns. The company’s vast charging network, established under the brand EZ Charge, spans strategic locations like highways, malls, hotels, hospitals, offices, and residential complexes, ensuring easy access to charging for EV users.

A key highlight of this partnership is the plan to integrate solar energy systems at TIVOLT dealerships and customer locations. By powering EV chargers with solar energy, TIVOLT and TPREL aim to reduce the carbon footprint of EV operations while cutting charging costs for consumers. This approach aligns with India’s broader goal of driving the clean energy transition.

Mr. Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, commented on the MoU, saying,

“Through our partnership with TIVOLT, we are enhancing our EV charging network to empower the small and commercial vehicle segment—key drivers of India’s economy as they ensure seamless last-mile deliveries and efficient transportation. A robust and well-integrated EV ecosystem will accelerate the adoption of commercial EVs, thereby propelling India’s energy transition and paving the way for a more sustainable future.”

TIVOLT Electric Vehicles, a Murugappa Group initiative, is poised to redefine urban mobility with its innovative approach to EV manufacturing and services. The company aims to offer more than just vehicles — it seeks to create a comprehensive EV ecosystem. Specializing in small and light commercial vehicles, TIVOLT’s product range, launched under the Montra Electric brand, will emphasize reliability and sustainability.

With this partnership, TIVOLT and TPREL aim to provide EV fleet operators with affordable, accessible, and eco-friendly charging options. This move is expected to boost the adoption of electric commercial vehicles and support India’s shift towards a cleaner, greener future.
