Tata Motors is said to have bagged an additional order valued at close to Rs. 350 crore for high mobility military trucks. With this, the total order is estimated to be valued at Rs. 1300 crore, making Tata Motors the recipient of the largest single contract awarded to an Indian manufacturer by the Indian Army. The order for high mobility military trucks follows the order by the Indian Army in March 2015 to supply 619 6×6 high mobility vehicles. Tata Motors is known to have exported the mobility trucks to countries like Israel and France. Claimed to have been tested at the Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) torture track, designed to test military vehicles, the mobility trucks are expected to be the basis for future multi-barrel rocket launchers, short range surface to air missiles, quick reaction surface to air missiles and low level quick reaction missiles.
