Scania AB will unveil a new truck generation in August 2016. It will reveal the first units which it claims have been designed for the European long-haulage segment. In what is said to be the biggest ever investment by the Swedish company, which would soon be celebrating 125 years of its existence and growth, the new generation truck would translate into a new product range that will target different industries and customer segments, and would be spread out over multiple phases. The phase-wise launches, expected to commence with applications for trucks in the European long-haulage segment, will be accompanied by additional truck variants. Sharing an underlying theme of developing customised products, service solutions aimed at reducing operating and maintenance costs alongwith boosting the vehicle uptime according to sources, the unveiling followed by launch would be in-line with the company’s focus on sustainable transport.
