In a strategic expansion move, Scania Commercial Vehicles India has brought on board GMMCO Limited of the C.K. Birla Group to oversee its dealership and service operations across North, East and Central India. The partnership forms a key pillar of Scania’s renewed growth strategy for the Indian market, aimed at reinforcing regional presence and enhancing support for customers across diverse business segments.

Under the new structure, GMMCO will take charge of sales and service responsibilities in its designated regions, while PPS Motors will continue to represent Scania in the South and West. This two-dealer model has been designed to ensure seamless national coverage, quicker response times, and a more customer-centric approach to service and support.

The collaboration also reflects Scania’s shift from a direct sales format to a fully dealer-driven ecosystem. Going forward, the company will focus its efforts on product planning, innovation, and lead generation, while dealers will independently manage sales, documentation, invoicing, service and aftermarket operations. The decentralised setup is expected to bring greater agility and accountability across territories, ensuring that customer needs are met through dedicated regional expertise.

Speaking about the partnership, Silvio Munhoz, Managing Director of Scania Commercial Vehicles India, said the appointment of GMMCO marks an important milestone in Scania’s India journey. He noted that GMMCO’s extensive network, strong market understanding and customer-first approach make it an ideal partner to drive Scania’s next phase of growth, supported by the Scania Super range and a focus on sustainable transport solutions.

The alliance aligns closely with Scania’s global direction of transitioning from pure product sales to offering complete transport solutions. This includes tailor-made service and maintenance packages, flexible financing options, and connected services aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. The model allows customers to benefit from solutions tailored to their specific business and financial requirements, moving beyond just vehicle supply.
