The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 exceeded expectations with its expansive and innovative display of mobility solutions. It is a testament to OEMs finding their sweet spot, writes Ashish Bhatia.
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 was held at three prominent venues in the Delhi-NCR region: Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, and the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida. The event attracted a total of 983,522 visitors across these venues. Centred around the theme “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain,” this year’s expo built upon the success of its inaugural edition in 2024. With the venue securely sealed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the automotive industry, emphasising his strong vision and confidence in India’s journey towards transforming mobility. During the inaugural ceremony, he stated, “The entire mobility industry, the government, and the nation have united for this expo.” He added, “Inspired by the aspirations of the people and the energy of the youth, India’s automobile sector is undergoing an unprecedented transformation.”
This edition marked significant advancements in scale, innovation, and global engagement, featuring 1,500 exhibitors. The Motor Show at Bharat Mandapam showcased 90 vehicle launches, while the Auto Components Show at Yashobhoomi presented 97 product and technology launches. Additionally, the Bharat Construction Equipment Expo saw 24 launches, many of which included BS (CEV) Stage V-ready equipment, as well as electric and hydrogen-powered machinery. Furthermore, the Bharat Battery Show featured 21 launches of various battery and charging solutions, highlighting important advancements in battery storage and vehicle charging technologies. The India International Tyre Show 2025 launched two new product ranges aimed at the passenger and commercial vehicle segments. The event showcased advancements in tyre technology, including smart tyres, the use of sustainable materials, and enhanced safety features. Additionally, several companies announced strategic plans to target specific tyre segments within India.
At the Steel Pavilion, exhibitors presented innovations in automotive steel, focusing on sustainability, strength, and lightweight solutions while highlighting advancements in steel technology. The Urban Mobility and Infrastructure Show 2025 brought together various sectors related to urban mobility and infrastructure. It featured innovations, technologies, and solutions for sustainable urban transit, including Rapid Transit Systems and Mass Rapid Transit Systems, along with advanced equipment manufacturing and energy-efficient mobility solutions. The Urban Air Mobility segment demonstrated revolutionary advancements in air mobility technologies, with companies showcasing their Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) and electric VTOL (eVTOL) aircraft, as well as other air mobility solutions, including drones.
At the 4th Global Electrification Mobility Summit (GEMS), themed “Electrification: Powering India’s EV Leap, Reaching the Tipping Point”, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, policy makers, global industry leaders, and experts came together to chart the way forward for India’s electric mobility transformation. Shailesh Chandra, President, SIAM, and Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, “The Indian Auto Industry needs to be at the forefront of India’s net zero journey. The shift to EVs reduces India’s dependency on fossil fuels and increases energy security. Ecosystem-building efforts have underpinned India’s EV growth story. SIAM’s Vidyutikaran initiative has been pivotal in driving EV adoption in the country.”
Expanded scope and participation
The inaugural edition in 2024 featured more than 100,000 sq. m. of exhibition space, hosting over 800 exhibitors and attracting more than 150,000 visitors. In 2025, the expo significantly surpassed these numbers, expanding to an exhibition area of over 200,000 square meters, which allowed for more comprehensive displays and interactive showcases.
Spotlight on the Motor Show
One of the most highly anticipated segments of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo was the Motor Show, which took place from January 17-22 at Bharat Mandapam. Organised by the ACMA Mobility Foundation, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), this segment became a key destination for OEMs and ecosystem stakeholders.
Product Innovations that stood out
The Motor Show lived up to its promise of exciting new product showcases. From LNG trucks to RMC mounted on a pickup to 55-tonne prime movers, intercity long-range buses to vehicles designed for port use to name them. Future-ready smart tyres with in built sensors and enhanced sustainability features, optimised for EVs to alternative drive systems utilising hydrogen fuel cells and enhanced EV powertrains. The advanced infotainment solutions comprised smarter systems focused on safety and connectivity for smarter vehicles that enhanced the overall aesthetic. The energy storage technologies comprised next-gen batteries designed for efficiency and longevity.
Tata Motors Ltd. showcased an impressive display under its refreshed mantra, “Better Always.” This signifies the company’s strong commitment to continuous growth for all its stakeholders. Girish Wagh, Executive Director, emphasised Tata Motors’ dedication to fostering agility, challenging limits, and striving for excellence as part of their relentless improvement efforts. He paid tribute to Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata, recognising him as a guiding light for innovation and excellence. The booth featured 50 exhibits across various segments, including 11 goods carriers, three passenger carriers, six intelligent solutions, and four advanced aggregates. Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head of Trucks at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles shared insights about the refreshed design language that is redefining the aesthetics of commercial vehicles. He indicated that Tata Motors is committed to green mobility with duty cycle-specific offerings and tailored solutions to meet evolving customer needs.
Anand S, Vice President and Business Head of Commercial Passenger Vehicles at Tata Motors expressed satisfaction with the business performance, attributing it to a vibrant passenger carrier market. The company is addressing the changing demands of public and private transport with solutions designed for urban mobility, rural connectivity, and sustainable transport. Tata Motors is focused on innovation and sustainability, he stated. The OEM also unveiled advanced vehicles equipped with smart Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features, capable of handling the toughest duty cycles and most challenging applications. Additionally, the company offered visitors an immersive experience through an ADAS-enabled truck simulator, allowing them to experience real-world trucking scenarios.
CV Magazine had the honour of releasing the January edition in the August presence of the VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. leadership as they unveiled the copy featuring an exclusive on the OEM’s foray into the Small Commercial Vehicle segment (2-3.5-tonne) with the Eicher Pro X the expert truck built with customer feedback at the state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 Bhopal facility. The launch was presided over by Vinod Aggarwal,Vice Chairman (Non Executive), EML and MD & CEO, VECV. Volvo Trucks India Executive VP, Boddapati Dinakar spotlighted the FM 420 4×2 LNG tractor paired with a 38 Cu. M. tip-trailer coupled with an automatic tarpaulin system, Edscha designed, especially for coal mining applications. The company also drove in the FM 4×2 tractor with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). VECV signed a definitive agreement with Baidyanath-LNG that calls for the deployment of 500 Eicher Pro 6055 LNG Trucks with Baidyanath LNG Pvt. Ltd. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to enabling India’s long-haul transport segment to transition to cleaner fuel alternatives.
EKA Mobility leaves a lasting impression with its expanded portfolio of mobility solutions. Tailored for city and mofussil solutions, the senior leadership expressed confidence in the tailor made customer applications. Chief Growth Officer, Rohit Srivastava drew attention to a healthy consumption appetite driving innovation. He lauded the dynamic team and dedicated stakeholder partners at VDL Groep and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. for contributing to the diverse BEV portfolio.
SML Isuzu’s leadership, CGM Prashant Kumar, CMA Rakesh Bhalla, Anuj Kumar Sethi, Vikas Sharma led by Jim Yamanishi San, built on the four-decade legacy of excellence in commercial vehicles. The OEM made a strategic foray into the emobility segment this year with the Hiroi.ev . SML Isuzu also showcased the Maxi-cab Aasai MX, 5 Cu. M. 176 CFT. Samrat XT Plus tipper and Advanced Life Support GS G.S Ambulance. It also showcased the 3430 mm wheelbase luxury variant of the Hiroi.
Hyundai Motor Company showcased the Micro Mobility Concept Vehicles seen as a re-imagination of urban transportation. The electric three-wheeler and micro four-wheeler in partnership with TVS Motor Company have the target last-mile mobility solutions tailored to India. Angled windshield for superior visibility and collision protection, adjustable body height for monsoon adaptability, flat floor and extended wheelbase for comfort and ergonomics. Large tyres for smooth rides on rough terrains are some standout USPs. “Hyundai Motor is dedicated to designing mobility solutions that enhance experiences and drive sustainability,” stated SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design. Schwing Stetter India showcasing its advancements in sustainable construction equipment including C&D waste handling, carbon emission reduction, environment conservation and fire safety. Commenting on the eco-friendly and sustainability products, VG Sakthikumar, Chairman & Managing Director, Schwing Stetter India, “It is estimated that concrete waste generated in India could range up to 750 million tonnes annually, with the introduction of our advanced C&D waste crushers & Concrete Recycling plants, recycling operations could be performed with very high efficiency. We believe that recycled concrete can be effectively utilised on-site for structural concreting needs.”
Ashok Leyland’s entry-level Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) drew attention. Built upon the LNT technology, SAATHI is powered by a 45 hp engine that churns out 110 Nm torque. With a 24 per cent larger loading area and a payload capacity of 1.12 tonne is aimed at businesses seeking higher efficiency and lower operational costs. With a five-year/two-lakh km warranty, the vehicle is priced competitively in the entry-level segment. Commenting on the launch, Dheeraj Hinduja, Executive Chairman, expressed that Ashok Leyland is poised to lead the transformation in road transport, both domestically and in export markets. Alongside SAATHI, the OEM also displayed the GARUD 15, a multi-axle, front-engine premium bus, and the eTIRAN electric port terminal tractor in a new focus segment for the company.
Olectra displayed the 12m X2 Blade Battery bus and the 13.5m iX e-Bus. The X2 is an 18-tonne monocoque bus capable of seating 33-48 passengers plus driver (33-48+D). With a claimed 350-400 km range on a single charge the bus can be charged within 2-2.5 hours. Using aluminium body panelling the bus stands out with the high energy density blade battery, and vehicle tracking system, and is ITS enabled. The iX, a 13.5-tonne GVW bus can seat 24-35 passengers plus a driver (25-34+D) claimed to have a 180 km range with a two to three-hour charge time. With BYD partnership renewed till 2030 as per K.V. Prasad, CMD at Olectra, the company is well positioned to leverage the passenger carrier segment momentum. It also showcased the X2 Blade Battery chassis with key inclusions like the defroster, body control module, VCU, and the blade battery itself.
JBM Auto displayed the 12m Galaxy luxury coach that can be had in both the sleeper and seater or hybrid configurations as may be desired. Powered by the PMSM 250 kW motor the coach draws power from the Li-ion battery pack to give a daily operational range of 1000 kms. The bus offers passenger amenities like the Maharaja reclining seat with calf support, individual AC louvres, reading lamp and USB charging, bus kneeling for ease of hoarding and vehicle tracking. The company is comfortably placed to meet its order book as per Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman. It also displayed the intercity bus ‘XPress’, a low floor electric Mobile Medical Unit ‘e-MedLife’ and 9m e-Tarmac coach ‘e-SkyLife’ backed by the JBM E-Verse.
ALP Group’s Sr. Leadership, Sandeep Puri, ED – Business Development, Tejbir Singh Anand, MD, ALP Overseas, and Pawandeep Singh Anand, MD, ALP Nishikawa emphasised their growing content per vehicle in modern automobiles. The company drew attention to advancements in EPDM profiles, sealing solutions and blow-moulded components through successful Group companies and business verticals like ALP Nishikawa Company Ltd., ALP Overseas Pvt. Ltd. and ALP Aeroflex, driving global expansion and innovation.
Gestamp showcased advancements in electric mobility and lightweight vehicle components. The GES-GIGASTAMPING® Product Family drew attention to the possibility of having large integrated components for lighter, safer vehicles with reduced energy consumption and environmental impact. The Highpertube brings in high-strength chassis innovations claimed to improve crash performance. The Active Frunk by Edscha Gestamp is a tailored electric vehicle solution for fully automatic opening and closing of front lids, ensuring pedestrian safety. Glyn Jones, Country Manager, Gestamp India spoke of sustainability being integral to Gestamp’s strategy from the beginning and the focus on such lightweight solutions will ensure safer, greener, and more efficient vehicles on Indian roads.
Nitin Jirafe, Managing Director, Tata Cummins Pvt. Ltd. and Head, Engine Business at Cummins India reinstated the ‘Power of Choice’ on offer across fuels, accelerating the Hydrogen economy, the Cummins HELM platform and an integrated driveline concept. Tata Autocomp showcased its comprehensive strengths across 18 business units, including nine joint ventures with leading global auto component manufacturers, all together on one stage. The company showcased EV Components, Lithium-Ion Battery Packs, EV Chargers, E-Compressors, Integrated Drivetrain [6-in-1], and Powertrain Solutions for EVs and ICE. Arvind Goel, Vice Chairman of Tata AutoComp Systems spoke of tremendous opportunities for the Indian automotive sector to lead, particularly in exports, while continuing to strengthen the domestic industry through innovation, R&D, and collaboration.
ZF India is committed to technological advancements and redefining mobility for sustainable and intelligent transportation in India. Akash Passey, President, of ZF Group India spoke of India as a strategic market and ZF being well positioned to address the evolving needs of the future of transportation in India, for domestic and global players, the X-by-Wire portfolio stood out. Replacing traditional mechanical and hydraulic linkages with electronic signals, enabling greater vehicle customisation and enhanced safety, the foundation for the software-defined vehicles will give rise to new functions and features. Both safety and comfort were emphasised. X-by-wire components included brake-by-wire, steer-by-wire, and electronically controlled, active damping demonstrating the potential for future vehicles.
ZF showcased ADAS technologies, including advanced radar and camera systems, OnGuardMAX Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEBS) and together with Short-Range Radar for improved object detection and Reversing Camera for enhanced safety. The e-comp Air Lite is a cost-efficient, lightweight electric-driven compressor engineered for medium-duty commercial EVs and hybrid vehicles, featuring a compact two-cylinder design ideal for low air-demanding applications. ZF also showcased its construction equipment Ergo Power II transmission specifically localised for the evolving demands of the off-highway industry.
Subros showcased a diverse range of products designed for various applications, including buses, trucks, and passenger vehicles, with a particular emphasis on the new mandate for air conditioning in N2 and N3 category trucks. “We are proud to announce that we have introduced several innovative technologies and solutions, especially in the field of thermal technology. These advancements align with key industry priorities such as improving fuel economy, accelerating the shift toward electrification, meeting CAFE norms, and addressing the evolving needs of OEMs for value addition. Our core mission remains ‘Design in India, Make in India, for India,’ and we are fully committed to this vision,” stated P.K. Duggal, Executive Director and CEO of Subros.
Tyre manufacturers made their presence felt too. Apollo Tyres displayed the VredestianJK Tyres showcased the OTR range including the Shresth tractor tyre, VBH Plus II for the construction sector and Hard Rock Champion for mining. CEAT showcased the LOAD XL with a non-directional tread pattern for traction and stability with heat, cut and weather resistance, VARDHAN R85 with stepped lugs for improved stability and reduced slippage and better field yield. The broader tread offers superior traction. The VARDHAN REAR offers a deep lug for less slippage and longer tyre life with a lug deflector for puncture protection and a wider tread for high load-carrying capability. Michelin displayed the airless radial tyre Michelin X Tweel, an expansive tyre management solution for TBRs covering tyre and vehicle health, route breakdown, analytics, and pre-trip checks. It also drew attention to the first bus tyre homologated for road use and incorporating 58 per cent renewable materials like bio-sourced silica from rice husks and carbon black recycled from end-of-life tyres. MRF drove in the 12.00-24 MRK X N20, 385/65R22.5 164K 158L SSM1 TL M+S Alpine, SM-S1F4-295/80 R22.5 and the SM S3C8 Plus 295/90R 20. It highlighted its low noise range with the latest Acoustic Foam Technology (AFT).
Key seminars and thought leadership
The expo wasn’t just a trade fair. It was also a platform for dialogue and collaboration. Over 20 conferences and seminars addressed critical topics like Sustainable Mobility Practices, Autonomous Vehicle Technology and Smart Urban Infrastructure. Notable speakers and industry stalwarts, following last year’s trend, delivered keynotes. This included policy makers under the aegis of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, emphasising the role of mobility in India’s global leadership.

This year’s expo saw stakeholders make significant efforts to position India as a global leader in the mobility sector. The focus on sustainablity, international collaborations, and advanced automotive technologies aligned with India’s broader economic and environmental objectives.
