Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd. (TAFE) has introduced two new set of tractors called the smart series and the premium compact utility series. Part of the Massey Ferguson brand, the smart series tractors range between 40 hp and 60 hp, and are available in two- and four-wheel drive configurations. They are designed with international styling according to Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman & CEO of TAFE. Aimed at young farmers, conscious of the ease of using a tractor and keen on better returns, the smart series of tractors are priced between rupees-five lakh and rupees-seven lakh. Averred Srinivasan, “While labour shortages during peak agriculture season will remain a problem, aspirations of next generation in farming families are changing. “Mechanisation will continue to rise.” The premium compact utility tractor will be offered in a single variant of 28 hp. It will target those that work in orchards and vineyards. A four-wheel drive design, the premium compact series tractor will address multiple applications, ranging from haulage and to infrastructure. Particularly suitable for urban development applications, the premium compact utility tractor is priced at Rs. 4.8 lakh without attachment.
