Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles has introduced two new technologies – Advanced Fuel Combustion (AFC) engine technology and HexaDrive, on its Pro 1000 series range of light-duty trucks. Found on the Pro 1110 and Pro 1110XP, which has a 12-tonne GVW, and on the Pro 1110XP, which has a 13-tonne GVW, the technologies are claimed to offer superior fuel efficiency and a faster turnaround capability. The AFC technology further elevates the combustion efficiency of the engine by optimising the air fuel mixture through an advanced combustion chamber design. The optimised fuel injection is claimed to provide higher fuel economy, higher pickup and better grade-ability. The HexaDrive technology has to do with a six-speed overdrive gearbox, which is claimed to deliver better torque and tract-ability. The Pro 1000 series range comes with longer service intervals of 40,000 km and 50,000 km on the BS III and BS IV variants respectively.
