Mahindra Truck and Bus Division and Natural Habitat Preservation (NHP) centre have joined hands to support Ministry of Road Transport & Highway’s (MoRTH) ambitious road safety program. Together they will support MoRTH through a national awareness campaign ‘HaveaSafeJourney’ (HASJ). As part of the campaign, a contest will lead to 30 short stories on road safety being shortlisted. The shortlisted stories will be included in a book at a later stage. Expected to be brought out in early 2017, the book is an attempt to connect and engage with people, especially the younger generation, in a bid to foster greater awareness. Rajeev Lochan, Director of Road Safety, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways on the sidelines of the event emphasised on the government’s commitment to reduce road accidents in the country significantly by the year 2020. “The government stands committed to reducing fatalities by newer and innovative means of spreading awareness,” averred Lochan. “HASJ is a step in that direction,” he opined.
