Moving Tech, the innovative company behind India’s community-led mobility apps such as Namma Yatri and Yatri Sathi, has successfully raised USD 11 million (INR 92 Cr) in a pre-Series A funding round. This round was spearheaded by Blume Ventures and Antler, with notable participation from Google and other investors.

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards empowering drivers and enhancing commuter convenience through Moving Tech’s direct-to-driver and multimodal transportation models. The primary goal is to increase driver earnings and provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable mobility solutions.

Moving Tech’s journey commenced in 2020 with the launch of Yatri, India’s first open mobility app developed on the BECKN/ONDC protocol. In 2022, they introduced Namma Yatri in Bengaluru, furthering their commitment to Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). These initiatives aim to improve service quality for passengers, boost driver income, and reduce customer costs. The apps are open-source and feature open data metrics integrated into the ONDC Network.

Karthik Reddy, Partner at Blume Ventures, expressed his support for the company’s vision, stating, “Moving Tech is at the forefront of transforming mobility with a fresh and innovative model. We were amazed by the simplicity of what the tech and a robust product can do to solve mass mobility. We are glad to partner with an exceptional team and back their grand vision.”

Fady Abdel-Nour and Nitin Sharma, Partners at Antler, added, “Namma Yatri’s focus on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is pioneering. They are building the mobility of the future—one that is inclusive, efficient, and sustainable. We are thrilled to support them.”

Magizhan Selvan and Shan M S, Co-founders of Moving Tech, reiterated their commitment to a people-first approach, “With our people-first approach, our goal is to build empathetic products and tech that are 10x better. By collaborating with Samaaj (Community), Sarkar (Government), and Bazaar (Business), we aspire to create an impact similar to UPI in India and Linux worldwide. This funding will enable us to innovate and grow further.”

Operating in eight cities and towns, Moving Tech has facilitated 46 million trips and generated INR 7 billion in driver earnings without taking commissions. The company boasts a user base of 7 million and 400,000 drivers, reflecting its rapid growth. The new funds will be directed towards technology development, research and development, and product innovations to create an integrated, fully digitized, and open public transportation system. The aim is to provide a level of convenience and seamlessness comparable to cab or auto travel, thereby encouraging increased usage of public transport for a sustainable future.

Moving Tech originated from Juspay, a leading payments company in India known for its contributions to the BHIM app, UPI SDK, OCEN/GeM SAHAY, and the Beckn/Namma Yatri projects. The company’s mission is to provide low-cost, reliable technology to service providers like drivers while fostering a sustainable, community-driven mobility ecosystem in India. The zero-commission model on the ONDC network is a cornerstone of its operations. Moving Tech collaborates with the community (Samaaj), government (Sarkar), and business (Bazaar) sectors to build a sustainable future.
