Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (M&M) has joined EP100, a campaign led by a non-profit organisation, The Climate Group. First Indian company to do so, EP100 aims to encourage the world’s most influential businesses to commit at doubling their energy productivity by 2030, and maximise the economic output from each unit of energy used. By signing up, M&M has committed to ensure its bit for the campaign to succeed. Drawing attention to how sustainability is an integral part of M&M’s approach, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, M&M said, “By signing up for EP100 we are committing to double our energy productivity by 2030 on a baseline of 2005. We hope to make a strong contribution towards achieving the climate goals agreed upon at COP21.” He further emphasised on the need to have other corporations come forward and become a part of the EP100 campaign. M&M’s initiative is expected to inspire others in India to include energy productivity targets as part of a new norm for global business. The Climate Group is striving towards helping global leaders make a transition towards a low carbon economy which is claimed to be driven by the rapid scale-up of clean and renewable energy.
