Maruti Suzuki has began exporting its Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Super Carry. The first lot of 100 Super Carrys, according to a statement issued by the company, were shipped from India to South Africa and Tanzania. In what is looked upon as the company’s first LCV, the Super Carry, if the industry sources are to be believed, will be exported to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries among others. Powering the Super Carry is a G12B (1996 cc) in-line four cylinder petrol engine that delivers 72 bhp @ 6,000 rpm and generates 101 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. Mated to the engine is a five-speed manual transmission. For India, Maruti Suzuki has not announced the date of launch. Industry sources claim that the LCV will be launched at the fag end of this year. They also claim that the Super Carry, in India, will be powered by a 793cc (E08) two-cylinder diesel engine that does 47 bhp of power and 125 Nm of peak torque. For the Super Carry, Maruti Suzuki is said to be working on setting up an independent retail channel. The company first revealed its intention to enter the burgeoning LCV market in 2013. The Super Carry would have a payload capacity of 750 kg.
