Jalaj Gupta has joined Mahindra & Mahindra after spending almost a couple of decades in Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland. He will lead commercial vehicle and construction equipment business. At Ashok Leyland, Jalaj Gupta was head of its trucks and buses division. As part of its management restructuring, Mahindra & Mahindra has brought him to takes charge as a business head of the commercial vehicle division after his predecessor, Vinod Sahay, who moved into a group role as the chief purchasing officer starting April 1, 2020. Satinder Singh Bajwa, head of small commercial vehicle business, moved as head of sales and service for the passenger vehicle business. The position was taken by Amit Sagar, the previous head of sales. Sagar also has the additional responsibility of the construction equipment business at Mahindra. Amit Sagar will report to Jalaj Gupta and Bajwa would report into Veejay Nakra, CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra’s automotive division. Gupta was the head of Nano Product Group and was handling regional offices of East and North for Tata Motors passenger vehicle business since 1998. Later in 2011, he joined Ashok Leyland, in its light commercial vehicle business where he led the sales and marketing function for LCVs and buses.
