The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor in Indore is set to become the first green transport corridor in India. The 11.45 km-long route will replace all diesel-run buses with electric buses. Indore Municipal Corporation has already purchased ten electric buses, and more will be purchased in the coming days. The BRTS stretch between the Niranjanpur intersection and Rajiv Gandhi Square sees approximately 49 public transport buses ferrying about 50,000 passengers daily. The municipal commissioner, Harshika Singh, stated that the policy decision has been taken, but the duration of the transition hasn’t been disclosed yet.
