India Post has rolled out two new time-bound delivery services, Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 marking a significant upgrade in the country’s public postal and logistics infrastructure. The new offerings aim to provide assured delivery within 24 hours and 48 hours respectively on select routes across India.
The services are designed to cater to the growing demand for faster and more predictable delivery timelines, especially for urgent documents, parcels and business consignments. With these launches, India Post is positioning itself more competitively against private courier and express logistics players while leveraging its unmatched nationwide network.
Speed Post 24 offers guaranteed next-day delivery on eligible city-to-city corridors, while Speed Post 48 ensures delivery within two days on designated routes. Availability will depend on operational feasibility, and customers can opt for the service at participating post offices.
The move reflects India Post’s broader transformation from a traditional mail carrier to an integrated logistics service provider. By introducing assured delivery timelines, the department aims to strengthen trust among individuals, small businesses and enterprises that rely on timely document and parcel movement.
With e-commerce, MSMEs and last-mile logistics gaining momentum across India, the new express services are expected to enhance delivery efficiency while reinforcing India Post’s role in the country’s evolving logistics ecosystem.
