Restricted to serving ecommerce company needs as a last mile delivery expert, Mumbai-based Hey Didi is said to be looking at entering the taxi services market. The startup, which has 10 women drivers on scooters, is plannig to have 5,000 women scooter drivers by the end of this calender year. The plans of the company to enter two-wheeler taxi services hinges on the government easing regulations. Having found a partner in Mahindra Finance to finance its needs, Mahindra is known to have provided free scooters to the startup. Mahindra, it is said, is ready to support the women initiative if Hey Didi decides to extend its operations to other cities in India as well.
