Heavy vehicles without registration were pulled by Kochi’s Motor Vehicles Department (MVD). Several instances of vehicles being used at construction sites without registration were found. If this prompted the Kochi MVD to ramp up its checking, the officials drew attention to the law that binds the owner to register the vehicle within three months of purchase. With registration cost pegged at eight per cent of the total vehicle cost, operators are said to be reluctant to register their vehicles promptly.
