Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has announced the creation of the Transformation Management Office (TMO) and the new position of a “Chief Transformation Officer”. The TMO will be responsible for driving transformational topics and strategic initiatives, particularly related to digitalization, external partnerships, new business models, internal business processes and company culture. Chulanga Perera, Chief Information Officer at DICV will lead the TMO as “Chief Transformation Officer and Head of Strategy” in a dual role until a new CIO is announced. The transformation office consists of around 40 staff who will be responsible for ensuring strategic transformation company-wide. The TMO will focus upon areas like servitization and partnerships, steer digital transformation, enhancement of customer service and scaling business offerings.

With the ongoing pandemic and the unprecedented environment, a digital transition is more of a mandate. The newly invented management that categorically looks after the digital transition is a good initiative from the company. And it also caters to other sectors of the business which is a boon. Despite the global pandemic, the company was able to perform without taking much losses, the company saw an increase in both domestic sales that went up by 46 per cent and incoming orders that went up nearly 150 per cent for Q4 as compared to the figures of 2020.
