Capegemini has also joined the EV100 global initiative that combines countries together that are making the switch to electric vehicles(EVs). The company has announced that it will now only order hybrid and electric vehicles for its 12000 vehicle company fleet. The company targets a fully electric fleet by 2030, all orders of petrol and diesel-run vehicles will be stopped with immediate effect. The decision falls in line with achieving carbon neutrality by 2025 and net-zero by 2030. The company has signed new contracts with car manufacturers and leasing companies that offer EVs and hybrid vehicles. The policy of stoping all internal combustion engines(ICE) that run on diesel and petrol has already started yielding results, around 13 per cent of these cars will disappear from the fleet by the end of 2021, followed by 24 per cent in 2022. By the end of 2022, over 50 per cent of the fleet will be free of ICEe and by 2025 the company will have achieved a 100 per cent carbon emission-free fleet of vehicles.

Vincent Moreau, Global Head of Real Estate at Capgemini said “As global experts are more concerned than ever about the impact of carbon emissions on climate change and its consequences, we as a global leader are committed to making bold moves to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable travel model. This initiative is a critical step on our transition to an EV fleet. We are looking forward to joining with other organizations through the EV100, to share best practice and achieve the scale and speed needed to realize our net-zero ambition by 2030.”

This initiative also includes a significant investment in electric charging points and is committed to switching to 100% renewable electricity for its operations by 2025 as part of its RE100 commitment.
