Ola has launched a bike taxi service at Bangalore. Claimed to offer a fare as low as Rs.2 per km (minimum fare is Rs.30 with Rs.2 charged per km and one Rupee per minute of trip time), the bike taxi service may find many takers considering Bangalore’s traffic congestion. Helping users to get where they want to be in quickly, and in traffic-prone areas, the Ola bike taxi service, averred Pranay Jivrajka, the chief operating officer of Ola, will aim at safe pillion rides with trained two-wheeler riders. To hail an Ola bike taxi, the user will be treated to the same procedure involved in the hiring of any other Ola cab. Features would also include SOS and live tracking and payment using Ola Money. While 500 bike taxis are claimed to have registered with Ola, Uber has also announced the launch of a bike taxi in Bangalore. Called uberMOTO, the bike taxi service will be priced at Rs.15 (base price) followed by Rs.3 per km and Rs-one per minute of ride-time charges.
