Apollo Tyres continues to expand its reach to newer markets. After marking its presence in South East Asian markets of Thailand and Indonesia, the company has entered the Malaysian market. An office at Kuala Lumpur was inaugurated by Satish Sharma, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA region), Apollo Tyres Ltd., in the presence of select business partners and company officials. Estimated to be worth 580,000 truck and bus radials, and 9.5 m passenger vehicle tyres, the Malaysian tyre market is the third largest automotive market in the ASEAN region. Aiming at the replacement market to begin with, Apollo Tyres is banking on the fact that its product range fits well with the Malaysian consumer requirements. Radialisation of truck and bus tyres is as high as 90 per cent. One of the countries in the ASEAN region to boast of sound road infrastructure, the setting up of a subsidiary in Malaysia should prove pivotal to the growth in South East Asian markets.
