Volvo cars would soon begin sharing real-time data with select Volvo trucks. The select Volvo trucks include FH16, FH, FM and FMX. The connection would look at linking the safety systems on board such that if the driver of either vehicle switches on the hazard warning light, other Volvo cars and trucks in the vicinity will get the message through the cloud. This would help the Volvo car and trucks drivers in the vicinity to take notice and accordingly avert any danger that may lie in their path. With Volvo trucks sold in Sweden and Norway equipped with Volvo Trucks’ own version of the connected safety hazard alert system, the data shared through the cloud systems will be anonymised and aggregated in a bid to comply with upcoming GDPR standards. The ultimate goal is vehicle-to-vehicle communication for a number of groups including government agencies and companies.
