Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has inducted BS IV emission compliant Volvo coaches. These include the 9400 multi-axle coaches with a length of 13.7 m and 14.5 m respectively. Powered by a 370 hp (for 13.7 m coach) and a 410 hp (for 14.5 m coach) 11-litre engine, the 9400 coaches are claimed to offer superior performance and fuel efficiency. With the drivetrain of the coaches designed to last the life of the bus, which is typically 10 lakh kms, the 9400 coaches are known to assure high productivity because of their long service intervals and aggregates that significantly contribute to lower the running costs. Apart from high refinement, the 9400 promises passenger comfort and low driver fatigue. Featuring ABS, Electronic Braking System (EBS), Disc Brakes and a hill-start assist, the 9400 complies with the bus body code. It is thus equipped with an emergency exit door, breakable emergency exit windows with T-punch glass breakers, a fire suppression system in the engine and luggage areas, and smoke detection system in the saloon and luggage areas among others. The 9400 coaches inducted by GSRTC are expected to be deployed on longer inter-state routes.
