President and CEO of National Engineering Industries Ltd. (NEIL), Rohit Saboo, has received ‘Ashoka Award’ from the Indian Society for Quality (ISQ) for 2016. Saboo led NEIL to win the prestigious Deming Grand Prize and JIPM Award for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), signifying the company’s commitment to manufacturing excellence. Indian Society for Quality, which gave away the award, is a non-profit organisation of quality professionals, and provides a national forum for quality education apart from playing an advisory role. ‘Ashoka Award’ is given to management professionals who lead their organisations, and guide others. The award is given to those that make an exceptional contribution through the practice and promotion of quality management. NEIL was established in 1946, and supplies bearings to automotive manufacturers. A CK Birla Group company, NEIL produces over 150 million bearings per year in over 1000 sizes. The bearings are marketed under the NBC brand, and serve a host of varied customers across India and 21 other countries in 5 continents.
